Camp Wildwood is a two-week day camp nestled in rural Hampton, South Carolina, designed to give children an action-packed experience filled with fun and adventure. Campers enjoy daily swimming and water safety lessons alongside a wide range of activities, including field trips, arts and crafts, and athletic programs. The camp also weaves in important life skills such as drug awareness, highway safety, medicine look-alike identification, disaster preparedness, and fire safety, equipping kids with knowledge that lasts well beyond the summer.

Roots, GROWTH, & Wild FUN

Camp Wildwood Summer Day Camp was founded in Hampton County in 1992. It was created with the idea of teaching youth the importance of water safety.

Camp Wildwood is highly recognized and respected for work done in Hampton County and other surrounding communities. In 2004, Camp Wildwood was awarded “Year of the Child” by South Carolina Governor Jim Hodges. Since then Camp Wildwood has gained several other acknowledgments and awards in various areas.

Since its establishment, Camp Wildwood has evolved as a yearly two-week summer day camp that provides education, life skills, civic and social activities, and fun days to youth ranging from 5 to 17 years of age. Training is also provided in CPR, First Aid, Fire Safety, Highway Safety, Drug Awareness, Proper Nutrition, Personal Hygiene, Cultural Awareness, and Character Guidance. There are also opportunities for Certified Swimming Instruction, Life Guard Certification, and Physical Recreation.

Water Safety Instruction

Led by American Red Cross Certified Instructors, our water program is where safety meets serious fun. Camp Wildwood was built on one core belief: every child deserves to feel confident and safe in and around water.

Campers dive into hands-on water activities that teach real skills while keeping the energy high and the smiles bigger. From learning the basics to building strong water awareness, every splash has a purpose.

And for campers ready to take it to the next level? They can work toward becoming certified lifeguards through our youth certification program, turning everyday swimmers into real-deal, whistle-ready lifesavers!

Exploring Beyond the Wild Side

One of the best parts of Camp Wildwood? The field trips! Campers get to venture beyond camp for exciting, hands-on experiences that bring learning and fun together in a whole new way.

Field trip admission and meals are included in the camp fee — so campers just show up ready for a great time! Depending on the trip, campers may bring spending money for any extras along the way.

Parents, we'd love for you to tag along! Any parent who wants to chaperone is more than welcome to join us. Just a heads up — parent admission and meals are on you, so come prepared to enjoy the day on your own tab!

Field trip details, dates, and destinations will be shared with families during the camp session. Trust us — you won't want to miss what we have planned!

Create It, Shake It, Take It Home

Creativity comes alive and self-expression takes center stage. Every day, campers get to unleash their inner artist and their best dance moves, sometimes at the same time!

From singing and grooving to music-fueled games that keep everyone on their feet, there's no shortage of rhythm and energy. If it's got a beat, we're moving to it!

On the crafty side, campers get hands-on with all the good stuff, popsicle sticks, paint, felt, yarn, beads, craft paper, markers, and more. They dream it up, build it out, and take their masterpieces home to show off. Because nothing beats the pride of saying, "I made that!"

We believe the more you know, the better choices you make and we make learning about it way more fun than a textbook ever could.

We bring the community straight to our campers! Experts and leaders from local agencies stop by to share real-world knowledge and hands-on skills that help young people thrive. These aren't your typical sit-and-listen sessions, guest speakers bring the energy with live demonstrations, interactive lessons, and conversations that stick with campers long after the summer ends.

Because at Wildwood, we're not just building great campers, we're helping shape confident, informed, and community-ready kids!

Get Up, Get Out, Get MOVING

Sitting still isn't really our thing! We're all about keeping campers active, energized, and having a blast while they're at it.

Our trained staff keeps the action going all day long with activities designed to get hearts pumping and feet moving. Whether it's a big showdown on the kickball diamond, a heated game of basketball, or friendly competition on the soccer field, there's never a dull moment. Softball, volleyball, and track and field round out the lineup for campers who love to go all out.

For those who love a little friendly rivalry up close, smaller group activities like tug-of-war, jump rope challenges, and foot relays bring the fun and the teamwork, with plenty of cheering included!

Camp Counselors

Calling all young leaders ages 14 to 25! Our counselors are the heartbeat of every camper's experience. You'll be assigned to a group and responsible for guiding, mentoring, and keeping the fun going from start to finish each day. If you're patient, energetic, and ready to be a role model, this is your moment to shine. It's more than a summer gig, it's a chance to make a real impact.
